Kannauj
Where it
comes from.
Kannauj is a town on the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh, about three hundred kilometres from us, and it is where India makes attar. Copper stills, wood fires, and vapour caught directly in oil — the deg-bhapka method, still done the old way in the lanes behind the main bazaar.
We buy from a perfumer there and bottle by hand. No factory, no middle layer. What you get is what the town has always made — in a bottle you would actually keep on the dresser.
